TREVOR WEEKES has had an essay published as part of the Issue 26 of Artist Profile magazine, 2014.
The essay, entitled ‘The pitfalls and pinnacles of a creative mind', speaks to the importance of an "internal filter" alongside the creation of ideas and masterpieces in an artistic life.
It is well worth a read, we implore everyone to seek out this Issue.

In Tanya Chaitow’s painting Moon Mirror, a hybrid creature – a tallish feathered owl who walks on oversize feet – diligently cradles a glowing yellow moon while traversing a sky-like floor. Two more owl-like souls, dressed in an assortment of formalish clothes, stand solemnly one behind the other. While neither of the onlookers gives any clear indication of the mission, both stand by with quizzically ambiguous looks. ...more

Steve Lopes will have work featured in Insight Radical: Where Science Meets Art, opening Tuesday 26 November, 6.30 - 8.30 pm at Mclemoi Gallery, Chippendale. The exhibition continues until 9 December 2013, along with artists Tony Lloyd, Anna Madeleine, Natalie O'Connor, Peter Sharp and Ruth Waller, whom participated with Lopes in an artist residency with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Free Radical Chemistry and Biotechnology. ...more

China Studies is a collection of drawings, prints and oil studies made during the artist’s Red Gate Residency in 2011. Lopes spent six months working in Feijiacun, Beijing. This body of work focuses on artistic interpretation and impressions of the small Bei Gao village in Feijiacun, north of Beijing, and its earmarked future as a growth section and extension of the encroaching metropolis. He produced over fifty works during his stay, recording the changing village life and its people. We asked the artist about the experience this exhibition. ...more
