Denese Oates won the ACU Site Specific Award for the North Sydney Art Prize 2017
Congratulations, Denese on winning the ACU Site Specific Award in the North Sydney Art Prize 2017. The work is made of twisted recycled rio welded into the shape of an arch which echoes the sandstone arch at the end of the tunnels at the Coal Loader at Waverton. Attached to the rio are 100 copper coated concrete bones. 'Pass to the present' is a work referring to the rich past of coal loader and a homage to the workers who toiled there.
Denese extends special thanks to Greg Corbett, Alex Kosmas, Paul Hopmeier, Tom, and Alison Clarke for their support, encouragement and assistance. Exhibition dates are 11 - 26 March at The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability, 2 Balls Head Drive, Waverton.
